Holy cow was I disappointed with this book. I had to stop reading this book because it was stressing me out just how much it glorified rape culture. I read their previous books ( Him)(Us) and so I was expecting to read a nice story from Jess’ and Blake’s point of view, but what was given was so not romantic or ethical.The first part of the story begins with Jess telling Blake that she does not want to do anything with him, but he doesn’t take no for an answer. What kind of a man goes into a woman’s room, uninvited, and sleeps naked next to her? No only that but he gropes her in her sleep and pushes he’s erect penis near her vagina. This is clearly sexual assault. Not only this, but before this incident he kept harassing her via text messages: messaging her when she didn’t want to, sending penis pictures that were unwelcome. What in the world is this?! The more I kept reading, the angrier I became at the characters of Blake. He is one step away From having a sexual harassment complaint written up on him. Seriously, what kind of BS is this?! I’m not just angry as a man but as a person that understands empathy, and that “No!” Means freaking “No!” Not “Keep harassing me and try to convince me.” I am so disappointed in this book. Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy is a must read if you have read Him and Us. If you haven’t read these books it’s okay because Good Boy can be read as a stand alone novel and is the beginning of the new Wags series. He introduces her as his girlfriend with the hopes that his family will let his past relationship go. Mamma Riley has a big heart and knows her boy is up to something.After meeting Blake’s family, Jess sees a very different side of Wes. She’s realizing that he is a man with honor. His morals may be spotty, his brand of craziness may be annoying, but his pure heart is completely lovable.
